Kay Ryan's "Turtle" deploys musicality and unexpected rhymes, building a short poem begging to be read again and again. And so I did, quickly, with greater pleasure each time.

In a completely different vein, "TO AN ALDABRAN TORTOISE, DEAD AT 250" by Joseph Harrison is a fact-filled epic tale that encouraged me to consider unusual word choices and alliteration as it informs the reader both directly and allusively.

Who'd have thought these shelled creatures could prompt a thirty minute dance with words on the page?

Bravo to Joe Harrison for that litany of luminaries who lived during Adwaitya's life span!

The just-make-it-weird prize goes to Frank Lima.
