Dear Readers:
Thank you again for your sustained and enthusiastic readership of The Sharpener. It’s been nearly a year since I launched this venture. Finding and sharing poems with you each morning has become part of the fabric of my life, and it gives me pleasure to know that it’s part of the fabric of your lives, too.
I have some upcoming readings and classes I want to tell you about.
On Thursday, November 17 at 7:30 p.m. EST, I will be reading for the SUNY New Paltz community with Shayla Laws and Claire Hero. The Zoom reading is free and open to the public. You can register here.
If you’re in the New York City area, on Monday, December 6 at 7:00 p.m EST, I will be doing a live reading at the KGB Monday Night Poetry Series (85 E. 4th Street, NYC) with Kathleen Ossip and Craig Morgan Teicher. There’s no cover charge.
On December 24-25 I will be leading a two day Jewish Writers Poetry Retreat for Hudson Valley Writers Center. We’re hosting the workshop on Zoom over Christmas Eve and Christmas Day—a time that can bring discomfort or isolation for many Jews. The goal of this retreat is to repurpose and transform this time.
The retreat is not limited to Jewish poets: any writer interested in reading and writing about this subject is welcome to attend. You can register for the retreat here.
Please spread the word with anyone who may be interested.
With thanks,
Sean
